Stop Spending Thousands On Hardware

At RxWeb, we don’t sell computers. We sell brilliant software that helps you run your pharmacy effectively and efficiently, from anywhere. Two weeks ago we sent out an email that resonated with many of you. It was around hardware contracts and how they can negatively impact your business.

Basically, it comes down to two things, cost and control.

Lengthy Hardware contracts have long been used by PMR providers as a tactic to lock customers into their systems. It’s expected that these contracts simply run in line with the user’s software license but what we’re seeing more and more of, is that hardware renewals and forced upgrades are being used to extend contracts unbeknownst to customers.

Take back control of your pharmacy. At RxWeb, our primary goal is to create a fantastic system that helps you manage your pharmacy but we also want to simplify your day to day business decisions and give you the freedom to choose how you run your pharmacy. Want to add an additional terminal? Or, have the ability to work from your own laptop at home? No need for contract negotiations with RxWeb. you can make quick decisions because we’ve got the flexibility to adapt to your needs (also, we give you 6 terminal installations to use at your discretion).

When it comes to cost, if you’re not with us, chances are you’re spending thousands on expensive hardware contracts. And, if the stories we’ve been hearing are true, your probably getting a bad deal.

Why would you spend between £1500-£2000 per PC, when you could head down to your local Currys and pick up a fantastic laptop for £400-£499 which could last you 6+ years?

  • Is it the machine spec? (PMR providers don’t have a monopoly on good laptops)
  • Is it the warranty? (All machines come with warranties these days and it’s inexpensive to extend them as needed)
  • Is it peace of mind? (Real peace of mind comes with web-based solutions. Every keystroke in RxWeb is backed up in real-time making sure you never lose information)
  • Is it the hardware support? (Please don’t tell us it’s the hardware support)

RxWeb PMR stop spending thousands on hardware

Hardware is especially relevant now as pharmacies must ensure compliance with Warranted Environment Specification (WES). If your current hardware doesn’t meet these specifications then you will need to upgrade as soon as possible. This means your provider may force you to upgrade hardware at your expense with the potential of locking you into another new contract.

Now is an excellent time to consider your options. With RxWeb, you can save thousands by choosing your own hardware. If you want to learn more recommend getting in touch using the links below.

How To Record a Covid-19 Vaccination Within RxWeb

As a number of our customers are involved in the provision of Covid-19 vaccinations, we wanted to share a useful guide on how to record a Covid-19 Vaccinations within RxWeb.

To give you context, we are provided with a new dispensing file by the dm+d on a weekly basis, which populates the dispensing screen in RxWeb. Only drugs which appear on this list can be dispensed. As the Astra Zeneca vaccine is not yet on the list,  there is no option to dispense it.

The below guide will give you a temporary solution while we wait for the dm+d to provide an updated dispensing file. We will be in contact with them and will update you of any developments.

You can download the guide at the link below.

Big update to your RxWeb system, we are moving to HTML5

We wanted to tell you about some exciting developments to our RxWeb system that we are nearly ready to roll out to all of our customers.

We’re upgrading to HTML5

As you may know, Adobe Flash is due to stop working on December 31st, 2020. RxWeb was originally developed using this software which obviously posed a unique challenge for us. As soon as we heard this news, way back in  2017, we began to take a range of internal steps that would not only protect but improve RxWeb for all of our customers.

In early 2018, we began work on a massive development project that would migrate RxWeb from Flash, to HTML5. As this project nears completion, we wanted to give you a short update on what this means for both RxWeb and you, the user.

This migration was a very large undertaking, one which has required a substantial investment of time, development and money in the system. Originally, Flash technology gave RxWeb the platform to be the most cost-effective, innovative and forward-thinking PMR system on the market. Now, HTML5 will open up a whole new world of possibilities for RxWeb and enable us to continue to be the digital foundation, and a trusted partner, to your pharmacy for years to come.

What does this mean for you?

Well, initially, our customers won’t notice any difference within the system whatsoever. One of the priorities of the project was that user experience would not be negatively impacted in any way. As such, everything will be in the same place as before and will work in the same way. So there’s no need for your staff to be retrained. The differences and improvements will arrive as we continue to build and develop our system on this new modern technology.

You can expect improvements in security and increased accessibility. For example, you will be able to access our system using Google Chrome. Our development process will become easier and less time consuming, meaning loads of new features, functionality and integrations will be introduced to RxWeb in the months ahead. All of which, will be rolled out through automatic system updates and releases.

With RxWeb, you already get the PMR system most favoured by independent pharmacies and with what we’ve got planned, our system is only going to get better.

Looking to the future

As we enter the final quarter of 2020, we are busy putting the final touches to our product roadmap for 2021. It’s shaping up to be a massive year for RxWeb and we couldn’t be more excited for what the future holds. If you’re a current customer then check your emails, we’ve sent out an announcement email which included a short roadmap feedback survey and we would love to hear from you! We want to get your input and hear your ideas. We value each and every piece of feedback that we receive and we want to work with you to improve RxWeb together. Your input will have a huge impact on the product roadmap for RxWeb.

As this project progresses, we will make sure to keep you all informed. Keep an eye out on the news section of our website for further updates.

Speed and Simplicity – What to Consider in Your Pharmacy’s Software

There are a number of things a pharmacy decision-maker needs to consider when selecting the software to support their business. Speed and simplicity are among them.

Pharmacy is a competitive and highly regulated industry in which some businesses operate both as retailers and healthcare providers. Like many other businesses, pharmacies are under pressure to offer a large range of products and services that deliver on the expectations of their customers. But for pharmacies, these goals are made even more complex by the challenges that are unique to the industry, such as, managing complex workflows, safe and effective handling of drugs, and ensuring compliance with various regulations – all while running an efficient, customer-centric business.

Competition is also intensifying as new names enter the market and new ways of conducting business proliferate. At the same time, digitally-empowered customers have higher expectations and expect a convenient, personalised experience.  As pharmacies adjust to these trends, many are looking at new innovative software solutions as a way to achieve their goals. There are lots of solutions out there, but when it comes to meeting the complex needs of pharmacy, not all software is the same. Identifying the system that will provide the right combination of insight, management tools and operational efficiency to support all aspects of the business, now and in the future, can be a daunting task.

That’s where we come in.

The ability to perform routine tasks efficiently and precisely is the backbone of any successful business. This is especially true in pharmacy, where time management and attention to detail is essential in making sure customers receive the right dosage instructions, advice and warnings with their medications.

But for pharmacies working with outdated systems, daily tasks can be tedious, repetitive and time-consuming. This not only impacts pharmacy staff, who could be using their time for more meaningful and profitable tasks; it also impacts the customer, who expects a much faster and more efficient service than was acceptable a few years ago.

For pharmacies looking to renew their software, the ability to simplify and speed up service is always a key concern.

With RxWeb, you’ll be getting the fastest system on the market. A system that will dramatically speed up prescription processing while providing your team with everything they need to manage complex workflows, safe and effective handling of drugs, and ensuring compliance with various regulations.

When choosing a system to support future success, it should be a priority to pick one that can keep up with the ever-changing demands of pharmacy. RxWeb has all the features needed to effectively empower your pharmacy and staff to deliver the fast, efficient service that customers expect. Helping Pharmacies Meet the Requirements of the Falsified Medications Directive

RxWeb FMD, our web-based solution, facilitates pharmacy requirements of the Falsified Medications Directive (FMD) law.

This standalone solution, which runs alongside RxWeb or your chosen PMR solution, provides you with complete flexibility to verify and decommission medication packs at any point within the dispensing journey to match your workflow and make ad-hoc scans and checks.

Key Features Include:

  • Scan medication packs – ensure they are genuine, check expiry date, serial and batch numbers.
  • Flexible enough to suit your specific processes and procedures.
  • Resilient and stable web-based platform.
  • Available on multiple terminals – scan at your back office, till or counter, etc.
  • Supply medication to patients – remove packs from the supply chain.

New Claim Amend Feature Now Available in RxWeb

We would like to take this opportunity to tell you about a new feature now available in RxWeb. Claim Amend is a new EPS functionality in RxWeb that enables users to send an updated Reimbursement Claim message to modify previously submitted information.

This means that if a mistake was made in the initial claim submission, it can now be rectified. There are no limits to the number of times a claim can be amended; however, all alterations and rectifications can only be submitted within the valid NHS amendment window.

It has been agreed with NHS Digital that RxWeb can deliver this new functionality in a two-phase approach. The first version of Claim Amend (v1) will allow you to make changes to the following:

  • Patient Exemption Code
  • Prescription Endorsements
  • Evidence Seen Status

We expect to deliver the 2nd Phase of Claim Amend, offering complete functionality by the end of 2020.

Here’s a brief run-through of the functionality you can expect and some instructions on how to take advantage of this new feature.

1. The Claim Amendment Window

The window for making alterations to a Claim is the same window as the Prescription Reimbursement rules. Examples below:

Prescription is Dispensed on 30th January and Claimed on 31st January. You would be able to Claim Amend until the 5th February.

Prescription is Dispensed on 1st January and Claimed on 6th February. You would be able to Claim Amend until the 5th March.

Prescription is Dispensed on 1st February and Claimed on 2nd February. You would be able to Claim Amend until the 5th March.

2. Using the Claim Amend Function in RxWeb

New Function in the ‘Claimed’ Queue.

In the RxWeb Claimed queue, there is now a new button called Claim Amend.

This button will open the previously submitted Prescription Information detailing Exemption Code, Endorsements and Evidence Seen.

You’ll be familiar with this screen, as it is fundamentally the same as the screen currently accessed by the View Endorsements button in the ‘To Be Claimed’ queue.

Amending a Claim

To amend a claim simply make changes on the Claim Amend screen and click Send Claim.

The Claim Amend Screen as seen below.

No Re-submissions Without Changes

You can not submit a Claim Amend unless alterations are detected. If you attempt to do this, the system will advise that you first need to make changes before proceeding.

We hope you find these quick tips useful. If you have any questions, or, if you experience any issues using Claim Amend please do get in touch and let us know. You can find all of our contact information here.
